Handy Storage, Tips and Advice
- When putting your items in storage it's always best to check out the storage facility before booking it online or over the phone. Visit the storage company and get a feel for where you will be storing your treasured possessions.
- Check out the storage facility is dry with no damp, is secure and also in a good location.
- Double check that the amount you have agreed to pay is not just an introductory offer but will remain the same for the duration of your stay.
- If you have a removal company putting your items in to storage check everything as it goes in as most removal companies insurance cover only lasts for up to 7 days after your move.
- Make sure all heavy boxes are stored at the bottom and not stacked high.
- Ensure all soft furnishings have protective plastic covers.
- Check nothing that is heavy is stored on sofas, as this will cause dents to the cushions that may never come out.
- Make sure you set up a direct debit schedule for all payments as to avoid any late payment charges.
- It's always best to use the same removal company that moved you into storage to remove your items just in case there are any problems. The buck can be passed.
- Make sure that any furniture you are stacking is adequately padded and covered.
- Make sure anything you need access to is stored at the front of your unit.
- If you will need regular access to your storage room it may be best to opt for a slightly bigger unit to make items more accessible.
